Stobart 40th anniversary set

The company of Eddie Stobart Ltd has built up an unprecedented profile in the road haulage world built on the courtesy of its drivers, the quality of its fleet and exceptional service. In fact Stobart’s has now become a brand in itself with a following even from outside the industry, with ‘I’m an Eddie spotter’ stickers being common on cars throughout the UK. To celebrate Stobart’s 40th year in the business Corgi are about to release a fantastic new limited edition set of four tractor units to represent the company through the decades.

The set comprises a sleeper-cabbed Atkinson Borderer, a day-cabbed Scania 111, a Scania 113 from the 1990s and a Volvo FH representing the modern fleet. Each set comes with a numbered limited edition certificate and everything is packaged in a bespoke box.

The models we got to see were pre-production prototypes and so were missing a few of the details such as mirrors, aerials etc, which will appear on the production models. However, examining the pre-production models revealed a very nice level of detail and I’d be happy to have them in my collection. However, it’s a shame that at the moment the units are not available individually so collectors of the various lorry makes cannot add one of these excellent models to their collection without getting extra vehicles they don’t want.
