DAF 1900 F353 DFD (top) and Morris Commercial SKD 17 Army Reg: 95 BD 52
On Thursday, 24 June 2010 between 10pm and midnight thieves broke into secure storage, forced the door lock on the DAF 1900, hot wired it, and cutting through a height barrier drove on to the M53, Junction 6, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
Were you travelling on the M56 / M6 / M62 / M65 Burnley area late Thursday/early Friday 25 June. Did you see a long blue truck, lit up like a Christmas tree which was loaded with a high Sand coloured vehicle, with an 'H' painted on it? Have you seen it anywhere else, on any type of road? Seen something interesting poking out of a barn? Have you visited a scrapyard and seen any one of these vehicles, or even heard anything from someone else that could relate to these precious vehicles?
DAF 1900 F353 DFD. Four-wheeler with factory-built sleeper cab, extended beavertail body to 33ft which will help to identify it. Painted when stolen in dark blue with red metal side bars. Hand signwritten on the doors, which reads 'Christine Thomas, Hooton Park, Cheshire', which even if painted over, could still be noticed/felt by hand. This very unusual vehicle has a winch fitted and an extending heavy duty tow bar, saved from the scrapman's torch.
Morris Commercial SKD 17 was loaded on the back of the DAF to go to a transport show.
She was experiencing fuel problems so will not run more than a few yards before she will stop.
This is unique because of its look and bulk. Fitted out, inside as living quarters. When stolen painted in Desert Sand colours and signwritten. There is a 6ft hand painted 'H' on either side, the back and on the roof. She was used in and is an associate Member of the Suez Veterans and would attend numerous events to support them. This old lady was saved from the scrapman's torch 20yrs ago with the help of numerous people, whose memories still reside in it.
Please be aware that these vehicles may now be separated or even left abandoned
I am an avid supporter of all aspects of the Vintage and Modern Lorry driving fraternity.
