Welcome...

I’ll start this month by saying a big thank you to all of you who emailed, wrote and phoned in to say how much you enjoyed the first Classic Truck. I’m so pleased we weren’t wasting our time! In fact we’ve had so much good feedback it’s almost embarrassing – let’s just hope we haven’t peaked too soon!

Welcome...

Issue two of Classic Truck

Anyway, welcome to the second issue, which I hope you’ll enjoy. Although we’ve only got 32 pages I think we’ve managed to come up with a good selection of articles.

Firstly I was so pleased to receive Bob Tuck’s latest piece, which is about ‘Evening Star’, the last ever Watford Scammell. I saw this lorry down at the Great Dorset Steam Fair last year and I thought it was absolutely fantastic! Thanks Bob, you’ve made my month!

Next, Ed Burrows has yet again come up with something completely different – a superb piece on Bedford’s ideas for the future. Unfortunately they were for a future they didn’t have.

Talking of Bedfords, on his recent trip to New Zealand, Roger Hamlin came across a 1981 Bedford TM that’s still working for a living. I’ve always liked the design of the TM and I love the sound of the Detroit Diesel two-stroke – I’d love to own one!

Next I’m pleased to say that this month sees the return of Pete Norton as a contributor, and he’s done a cracking piece on a Volvo F10. Pete hasn’t written for a few years due to business commitments but I’m really pleased that he’s back.

And so after all that I’d like to ask you a few questions. Classic Truck is very much guided by what our readers want to see, so please let me know. For example, the Bedford TM in this issue is very much in working condition – is this what you like or are you only interested in ‘as new’ vehicles? What about American trucks? We’ve never had that many in Heritage Commercials but would you like some in Classic Truck? If it was up to me I’d have a bit of everything, as variety is the spice of life. But at the end of the day it’s not up to me – it’s up to you!

Cheers,

Steve Pullen
